About

I have worked in and with the voluntary and social enterprise sector for the majority of my career.

I was initially introduced to the voluntary sector through Artcare in Gateshead, where I started as a volunteer when I was a teenager, and then became Administrative Co-ordinator for the organisation.

When Artcare closed, I studied Economics at Sunderland University, then worked briefly at Aberdeen University as a Research Assistant before joining the National Audit Office in London, where I trained in chartered accountancy.

I moved back to the North East in 2000, and worked initially in local government, and then for a number of voluntary sector and funding organisations, including spending time with Futurebuilders and the Social Investment Business and as Chief Executive of Voluntary Organisations’ Network NE (VONNE).

Since 2008 I have worked on a freelance basis, supporting charities, voluntary organisations and social enterprises, primarily focusing on business planning, helping organisations to manage and report on finances, and organisational development.

I am also a qualified leadership coach, supporting individuals in strengthening their decision-making, prioritising busy workloads and better managing work-life balance.

In 2023 I moved to France, and now work completely remotely using a combination of online meetings, videoconferencing, and document sharing.
